There's a comfortable assumption in tech hiring that "developer role" now means "remote by default." Our current data doesn't back that up.
We looked at 73 developer roles currently open on Fitlane AI. It's an early, deliberately small snapshot — and our listings skew toward Central & Eastern Europe — so treat these as directional, not a market-wide study. But the split is interesting.
Remote, office and hybrid are nearly tied
- Remote — 36% (26 of 73)
- Office — 33% (24 of 73)
- Hybrid — 32% (23 of 73)
No single work model dominates. "Office" is very much alive, and hybrid is not a rounding error — it's a third of roles.
Only about half of roles show a salary
48% of these roles (35 of 73) publish a salary range. Among the ones that do, the band runs roughly $3,900–$5,600/month. The other half still ask candidates to guess — a real friction point developers tell us about constantly.
English is a hard filter
75% of roles (55 of 73) require B2 or higher English. For a lot of strong engineers, language level gates access more than the tech stack does.
